Christmas Cinema or Lack Thereof

I am very, very disappointed with British terrestrial TV.
dodgyhoodoo was kind enough to indulge me by looking in the TV listings to see when White Christmas is going to be on. It turns out that the answer to that question is "It's not". Apparently, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and the Island of Misfit Toys rates above my all-time favourite Christmas classic. But that's not all. While there were some good films on the listings for next week, I noticed a conspicuous absence of the following:
Miracle on 34th Street
It's a Wonderful Life
How the hell do you do Christmas terrestrial programming without the three major Christmas classics? How? I don't get it. What is wrong with people that Carrie and Spy Kids get airtime and White Christmas and It's a Wonderful Life don't?
Needless to say, this has somewhat dampened my holiday good cheer. I nearly cried when I found out that I wasn't going to get to see White Christmas this year (unless the DVD-shaped "silly gift" from Mum is a DVD copy of said film, which is possible). I knew I should have bought it at Virgin when I saw it this afternoon; I considered it, but thought, "Well, that might be Mum's silly gift and it's on sale so I don't know if I'll be able to return it; besides, it'll be on TV..."
Ho. Fucking. Ho.
