Taxi Tele'r

I was really tired earlier so I decided to grab a nap. Woke up three hours ago, was bored, decided I'd try my luck at getting a party in FFXI.
...Not so much, really. Therefore, I wound up spending two solid hours being a Tele-taxi. And let me tell you, I ran the gamut of taxi 'passengers' today.
There was the first one, who I didn't charge. They didn't seem to know how much to tip and I decided to be nice, really. That was made up for by the individual who threw 3k at me for a Tele-Mea. Usually you don't see those kinds of tips for anything closer than Altep, so I was well impressed and not inclined to argue, though I do begin to wonder whether that was bought gil. There were the quiet types who seemed disinclined to chat and just dropped a 1k tip on me, and then there was the pair of loons going on about being spies or something, I dunno. They were nice, and really amusing. Therefore I did the "You are now flying Deathgnome Air; please keep your hands and elbows inside the Tele beam" thing, and one of them responded when we got there with, "Shit! I lost my hand!"
My reply: "Warned you." I liked them.
Then there was the guy I tele'd earlier today, who tipped me half the average (which was a little irritating - what does 500 gil buy nowadays? - but if he'd at least apologised I wouldn't have minded), and the arsehole two levels below me who asked for a Tele-Altep and didn't tip at all. I hate it when people do that without asking. I don't mind so much if people are up front about it - I know what it's like to be short on gil and not being able to afford the full 1k standard tip for a Tele, even though it hasn't happened in awhile, so if someone is up front about not having the gil, or apologises for it when they accept the party invite, I'm liable to just blow it off, particularly if I have nothing better to do. But for someone to just walk up, stare at me until I Tele them and then disband and run off without so much as a "((Thank you.))"?!? Man, some people suck.
But gil-wise, I am now better off than I was previously, which is a good thing because it's been time for armour upgrades again. I have to hang on to my Frost Robe because I haven't levelled BLM enough to wear the new thing yet, and my Mage's Robe doesn't actually look any different than the Frost Robe, but it's got higher DEF and that's the main thing. And I have a hat. Again. It looks the same as my old lvl 12 Traveller's Hat but has, like, more than double the DEF and matches the rest of the gear so looking like Paddington Bear is not so much an issue. Well, that is to say it is, but at least it's a colour-coordinated Paddington Bear... Plus a nifty earring that gives me an extra 5HP and 5MP. But with all that? Heh; the gil I got for the Tele-Mea scroll on the Auction House did not last long. But I earned 10k in about an hour and a half, as I didn't really count the time Tele-Holla'ing myself out of Rabao and riding into Jeuno, so I guess I can't complain.
...Well, I can, because I'm still bored. Which is why I decided to share the boredom, I guess?
