Another Quest Sorted.

Oh, yes - before I begin my day proper, some deathgnome-related news. I finally started the quests for the Tele-scrolls I already bought at the AH some five levels ago. Pointless, you say? Well, not really - given that I bought 'em off the AH, I wanted to make that money back. Particularly after blowing 35k on Tele-Altep. And so, I began with what I thought would be the hardest of the 'original three' - Teleport-Mea.
The quest for this one goes as follows - you talk to some monk-like guy in the hostelry in Windurst Waters and he gives you a key item of Spirit Incense. You're supposed to go into Eldieme Necropolis (full of creeping crawling undead, thank you) and burn the stuff over these flames you find around and about the place, at four of the main entrances. Two issues with this is that the appropriate spawn point for the answer you need (it burns up and emits a putrid odour - attempt failed, something like that) moves about. Also, that one of the spawn points is at an entrance you can only reach by going through Beaucedine freakin' Glacier, which I was not going to do. So there. I figured what I'd do was to try all three of the ones I could reach, then warp the hell out and try again another time. Still a 75% chance of getting the right one, after all...
However, fortune favoured the brave. Sneak, Invis, pootled through the nearest entrance to the exit from Jeuno, found the first spawn point, dropped Invis, selected ... got the appropriate answer straight away. Teleport-Mea, talked to the monk-like guy, got a letter to take to the cathedral in San d'Oria, Teleport-Holla, talked to one of the monks in the cathedral, got my Tele-Mea scroll. Warped back to Jeuno, put it up for auction...
And it sold six hours or so later for 50k gil. Huzzah!
Next I think I'll go for Teleport-Dem. I need to talk to some guy in Bastok Mines for that one - all these monk-like guys kicking around Vana'diel are kind of disturbing, in a way. But at least I'm somewhat familiar with Garlaige Citadel (where I have go to next) by now. I'd really like to wait another 10 levels or so before I start with the Tele-Holla quest because that one involves a lot more running around, in Gusgen freakin' Mines of all places, and I know that place well as ugly, crawling death. Not that Garlaige isn't, mind you, but at least it's a place I've been on my own and have at least a little experience of wandering around in without getting my poor fool self killed horribly. Gusgen ... well, the words, "We're dead! Where're we going to go? Windurst?" still ring in the corridors of my mind. Ah, those were the days - pootling around with Gjoll and
weaselbitch to get
weaselbitch and me our magicked skulls for our subjob quest and Aht Urghan ferry pass respectively. Getting flattened by skeletons twice. I was, what, level 25 or so at the time? Maybe 30? Stuck at that level because of an inability to get to Altepa Desert?
Anyway, Garlaige has skeletons in the room I need to go to, but they aggro mainly to sound, whereas Gusgen has bombs in the room I need to go to and they aggro to sight and magic. I need to take Invis down before I can select the spawn point in both cases, but at least in Gusgen, if I'm high enough level to avoid sight aggro, I can pootle away someplace where there's no magic aggro before I warp the hell out, or just use a Scroll of Instant Warp. And I suppose at least I have a nice buffer between me and delevelling in case something horrific happens. I should invest in Sleepga, really. Of course, there's also going for the Tele-Altep scroll, which is apparently really, really easy provided you have Sneak, because nothing aggros to sight in the Quicksand Caves. Issue? I have no freakin' map, because you have to open up a treasure coffer to get one. So it's writing down painstaking directions complete with grid position labels and hoping, really. Because gods know I can't kill anything down there - I don't even go their to level for another 5-10 levels or so...
In any case, that's my bit of news. A far, far wealthier deathgnome with potentially even further raised Windurst fame (I'm at fame 8 there, which is kind of awesome) and a sense of accomplishment. Now, of course, there's the saving up for Tele-Yhoat ... or just skipping that part of it and waiting 'til I've levelled high enough so I can go and kill the stupid ivory lizards myself. Apparently the drop I need is almost as bad as Carbuncle's Ruby, so that's going to be a joyous occasion...
Anyway, now I really need to throw some clothes on and get going. Meeting Mum for lunch. Wish I still didn't feel like death warmed up, but I do seem to be at least somewhat on the mend. It's more sniffly now than coughy, though the chesty cough hasn't completely deserted yet. Hate being sick.
