The Battle of Who Could Care Less

Fun on top of fun, the router at home has borked beyond all reason. It says it's connected, but packets just aren't getting sent. It's ridiculous. I think
dodgyhoodoo is now considering metres and metres of cable to get everything connected and keep it that way, as it's cheaper than replacing the router ... again. Just so long as we don't all trip over it when moving from A to B, I suppose we'll be alright. Stupid modern technology.
It amuses me, in a way, how many ways people can comprehensively show that they don't actually give a shit. JusNoctis has had this system of auto-XP; you get a certain percentage of an XP per hour of play. Which is great for those of us who play often, but not so wonderful for others. Also does not rely on actually doing anything productive or interesting or ... you know, anything at all ... in scene. It was understood on the whole that the auto-XP was only a temporary system - you know, just a test. So eventually, I figured, it was going to come up for discussion on the forums, to see if everyone was okay with that system, or if they wanted to switch to something else. I was quite looking forward to the debate, actually, mainly on the grounds that I don't mind either way. After all, I play often and I contribute to plot when I do. Either way, I'm getting sufficient XP to suit me.
But apparently, debate's not going to happen. Apparently, what's going to happen has already happened, without open discussion. And what's happened is that the auto-XP system has been dropped in a rather unceremonious fashion. With every shred of XP people have generated since its incept lost. Which means, for example, that I'm down eight and a half XP. And that Ike, who'd just managed to get the 13 XP he needed for his first Correspondence dot, is shafted unless he can negotiate with Yshala. And that
tithenai has lost about 15 XP while offsite for three weeks (and I won't even go into the fun involved in negotiating anything with the Changeling ST). And all this happened without a word of warning to anyone. Just ... there it was, announced on the forums. I'm so glad I bought that Entropy dot when I did...
Worst part? There's not really a system in place to replace the auto-XP. I don't know why they suddenly decided to drop the system, and all the XP along with it, but surely if they were going to, they should have waited until they knew exactly what they were going to replace it with? I mean, I honestly don't care - I like the auto-XP system because it takes some of the weight off STs who are hard enough to get hold of as it is, but there's definite merit in a system whereby XP is decided based on actual activity rather than sitting in scenes doing jack all. But I'd like there to actually be a system rather than, "We'll see if something can be coded to fit this very vague idea we've had and dump the existing system and leave the whole 'over half the board has lost an obscene amount of XP'
mess to the STs to sort out".
I don't get the admin. At all. I don't get how this individual's mind works. So far there's been the "turning down a decent prospective ST owing to newness to the board while insisting that everyone cut the current not-very-good ST some slack because she's new" issue, the "Changeling is basically an 'anything goes and there aren't really any cut-and-dried rules' game, so don't ever argue with the ST even when said ST is breaking several of the rules that I keep insisting don't exist" issue, the one comment to the effect of, "I've made my decision anyway so there's no point in having a conversation about it" ... and now this. Why is this person an admin if she won't actually listen to the players?
Oh well. So it goes. I have no idea what's going on this evening - there was rumour of an Emilie Autumn gig but I don't know who's going so I haven't actually tried to book anything. If not ... eh, I'll think of something.
