So yeah, 9/11. Five years on, and Bush has now finally admitted that he knows Saddam Hussain had nothing to do with it. And surprisingly, no one is rioting. Why is there no rioting? Nearly five years after waging this hostile action on Iraq because Bush laid the whole Trade Centre affair at Hussain's door, he turns around and says, "Okay, we know he didn't do it really, but I didn't look for this war and didn't want this war; it's just that if we hadn't gone and bombed them, the whole Middle East would be a hotbed of terrorists with nuclear weapons!" This despite the fact that Iraq was run by a secular dictatorship and not all that terrorist-friendly, and despite the fact that nothing has changed in any Middle Eastern country bar Iraq (though we're looking at Iran funny now, so I hear) and despite the North Koreans saying, "Hey, look at us! We've got nukes!". Despite a wealth of more appropriate targets, Bush wages war on Iraq. And Blair follows him like a faithful fucking dog.
I don't understand why they're coming out with this now. What was the point in telling us, "Hey, we know there was no reason to start this war, but we did it anyway"? Is it because they know we won't say anything or do anything? I mean, we sure as hell didn't when we found out there were no WMDs over there. Fuck's sakes, people, what does it take to get some noise? Surely by now we can turn around and say, "You lied and lied and lied some more and you now turn around and tell us the truth like it doesn't matter that you lied and killed so many? What do you want, a medal for your honesty? How about we just impeach you, you miserable lying fuck?" But no, Bush and his crew know full well that we won't do that. He knows that Cheney can get away with saying that "we would have done it even if the intelligence about WMDs came back negative", so he can really get away with anything. After all, we have always been at war with Eurasia. Fucker.
This on the fifth anniversary of the day the Towers fell. FUCK! YOU! COMPLETELY! Let's take a day that is about those who died and make it all about you, Mr Bush. Did someone tell you that there's no such thing as bad publicity, or has it really sunk in that your constituency are either a bunch of cowed sheep or a bunch of angry dogs whose barks you can ignore? I don't know what it will take to get the sheep and the dogs to stand up and rise up and demand some accountability, some justice, some fucking respect from their political figures, if it isn't this. This is obscene. They go on television on a day that's supposed to be about respect and memorial and they turn it into another fucking sound byte of amateur doublethink fuckery. It's like when Veteran's Day turned into a big ol' thing about how the Iraq conflict could be likened to WWII because "both started with an unprovoked attack on the US". (PEARL HARBOUR DID NOT START THE US INVOLVEMENT IN WWII, YOU UNEDUCATED HICK FUCKWAD!) Disrespectful, attention-grabbing, spin-mongering bullshit and a big heap of "fuck 'by the people, for the people'; I'm the only 'people' that counts here".
The Americans voted this in - well, half of them did. Probably. Anyway, he's in, and maybe it's now time they ... I don't know, threw him out? It's a democracy! By the people! For the people! The Americans been throwing away their political clout hand over fist for the past few years and it's time to stop. Write to your representatives! Protest any way you can, and even in a few of the ways that have recently been made legally dicky - they can't make free speech illegal because it's still in the Constitution, so speak out! It's not just for college campuses anymore! Let your will be known, or the next guy that comes along will look at all the bullshit you let the last guy get away with and make things even worse! It's your country. It should be your agenda. DO. SOMETHING.
In other news, Saw III is out in a couple of months. Yay, says I. Except that to read "the Legend of Jigsaw" on the Saw III website, you have to enter some details to prove that you are over 17 years of age. These include name, zip code, date of birth ... and, for international visitors, passport or ID card number and country of origin. To which I said, "That's insane" and surfed away. I'm not giving my passport number online! That's deranged!
