Brief notes on Mage today, since I am tired and have to work tomorrow.

They had a visitor after the Christmas party that time forgot; Professor Smith, a steampunker Son of Ether ([livejournal.com profile] guido_was_taken) who was wound up in their destiny pretty tightly. Unfortunately, as Chris proved, this is no guarantee of his survival. They also ran into Furubashi Masuyo, the sweeping monk ([livejournal.com profile] lokean who, when 'destiny' was mentioned, just said, "You're 30 years late". Apparently, he was told by his mentor (who we assume was Kuo-Li's former incarnation before he went all barabbus) that he would find his Way after he mastered Do or something like that, and he'd been waiting in that spot for 38 years. It was, as you can imagine, distressing for him but he's certainly got started now.

They went to check on how things were going for Lucille, at which point they were rather forcibly reminded that they never bothered to tell the poor Doctor that Lucille is over 1000 years old. He stated that he couldn't rebuild Lucille's memories without someone who knew her when, so they realised they were going to have to go negotiate with the Tremere. That, they reasoned, was going to be a hoot and a half.

The first thing they encountered, though, was a group of Hermetics who had apparently been sent to take out Ceoris. They shot Skank, Lucius and Furubashi-san, and scalded Professor Smith with his own steam cannon. (Peter wisely stayed out of the fight altogether.) Eventually, once they'd been disarmed, they explained that they'd been sent out on this suicide mission by the Hermetic Council, upon which Rodney 'the Creature' Delevan now has a seat as nominal head of House Thig now that Lucille's been incommunicado for days. This impressed no one and, while the other cabal went into hiding, the group announced themselves at the castle gates.

They turned up and were treated as reasonably honoured guests while the Tremere deliberated. That all changed when Molly found out that this lot were planning to, with some Technocracy backing, attempt to renew the original Tremere experiment with Molly -- essentially, to turn her into a vampire with an Avatar. (Well, she has three...) This pissed her off so she went to the Vis Cave at Ceoris, tapped into it, turned it into a node (which is what it was always meant to be) and incidentally, while she was at it, returned the old Tremere to their former state. In short, she started their bodies working again and cleaned out their Avatars, making them into mortal mages again. This, understandably, stunned the hell out of the Tremere, but they didn't seem entirely unhappy about it. An interesting debate came up as to whether the Head of House seat for this restored Hermetic House should go to Lucille (the oldest Tremere who'd never actually died) or to Molly (who'd essentially recreated the house). However, the Tremere weren't about to give up the advantage. They explained that they would send two people who knew Lucille back with the cabal but, in their current position, they couldn't afford the possibility of such a power drain as that would constitute. So, while they took the Master of the Library and the Mother of Gargoyles to Los Angeles, they were obliged to leave Molly in Ceoris.

The memory re-integration process went off without a hitch (though with a fair bit of pain for Skank, Lucius and the two former vampires, who were subjected to a rather unpleasant sort of mind-scan), and Lucille was fine. So they went to collect Molly and found that Ceoris had been attacked, and many of the old vampires were dead. Molly was also missing. The new element of this was that the attackers weren't Technocrats but mages, probably Hermetics. Skank is going to kill Rodney, I think. There was a minor distraction while Lucius, with the best of intentions, sought out other Prime signatures to find any other wounded Tremere, botched and wound up down the hole to the Vis Caves, so Skank had to fetch him out again. That's when the other three mages noticed the fog blowing in, and Skank and Lucius got up to ground level just in time to see it close in on the castle. They tried to head for the bus, but then the fog was all around them, they couldn't use magic, and all they could hear was the clanking of the drawbridge going up.

And then ... the *shuffle* *scree* of Pyramid Head.

And that's where the session ended. Aren't I cruel?

The quote we have (see [livejournal.com profile] nadriel's journal for the list) goes, "She's just remagified the whole Clan Tremere. These things happen." Also "On encountering the impossible, just assume Molly."
