I am trying to take my mind off the itching. It's not really bad, exactly, but it is annoying, particularly around the eyes. I don't want to scratch because it'll only get worse if I do. I hate allergies.

See, last night [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo made dinner -- a lovely dish of seared tuna steaks with vinaigrette. Unfortunately, I didn't find out until he served it up that the lovely vinaigrette had whole-grain mustard in it. Now, I'm funny about mustard -- that bright yellow synthetic French's stuff does not cause me any problems, but the one time I tried English mustard (oddly enough, at the urging of a boyfriend nearly as keen on food as [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo), I broke out in a rather irritating rash. I don't even know what it is I'm allergic to, but given the current situation, it's likely to be mustard seed.

Anyway, I decided that just because I'd had a bad reaction to English mustard did not necessarily mean that [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo's lovely vinaigrette was going to trigger the allergy. After all, as he pointed out, the Bombay potatoes he served at Christmas lunch last year had whole-grain mustard in. But then again, as I pointed out, the potatoes had about half as much in as the vinaigrette. Fact remains, I ate it, and it tasted lovely. And now I itch. Arsebiscuits.

So I am going to take my mind off it as much as possible and not scratch. I was thinking of making Sim-Beep and Sim-Emily; for the latter, I even have a scarf mesh that can be recoloured to suit the purpose. Heh. I am a daft thing. But at least it keeps me occupied with something other than "argh argh argh itchy itchy argh...".
