Woke up at about three in the morning with stabbing back pain. Ow. Either I need a new computer chair at home, I need a new computer chair at work, or I need to stop carrying half my life around on one shoulder all the time.

That last probably isn't going to happen, though. A long time ago, [livejournal.com profile] cholten99 referred to my rucksack as "The Mrs Robinson Bag", not after The Graduate but after Lost in Space the TV series. The Robinson family matriarch apparently had this bag that seemed to contain everything the family could possibly need when stranded on a desert planet. My rucksack's no different. The contents of my rucksack currently (just off the top of my head) are as follows:

  • World of Darkness core rulebook
  • Manifesto: Transmissions from the Rogue Council
  • Happy Tree Friends on DVD (must remember to give that to [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo on Sunday)
  • Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami (ditto)
  • Firestarter by Stephen King
  • Two bags of d10s
  • Bag of "contingency dice" (five each d4, d6, d8, d12, d20 and a d30 in case I need to pick a random date)
  • Deck of playing cards (came free with my copy of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix)
  • Chez Goth deck
  • Pencil case
  • Handful of Japanese cola flavoured boiled sweets
  • Painkillers
  • Miscellaneous bits of paper
  • Spare batteries

And of course on Sundays it's worse. Either I'm lugging the 7th Sea core rules and related texts (normally Avalon, Vodacce and Sophia's Daughters), or I'm running Mage. I never know exactly which direction the group's going to take, particularly now when they've finished a chapter and have had enough intel thrown at them to swamp the average neural net, so it's going to have to be just about every sourcebook I have for the stuff. Hmm. Wonder if my Ghouls book will be in by then.

In any case, as you can probably tell, I'm really not motivated to do the work thing today. I'm doing it, but not particularly willingly. My brain is currently planning my Saturday. If I recall correctly, there's supposed to be a sushi outing with [livejournal.com profile] kixie, which should be fun if it's still going on, but there's other stuff I have to do. Like the clothes shopping. And the haircut. Speaking of the haircut...

Right. Back to work. *sigh*

Well, I have to do something with it. It's all split ends.

I say boy short, but then again I'm funny. I've grown my hair for 2 1/2 years on a whim to see how long it'd go (knee length) then chopped it off ear length on a whim. Bleached ala Rouge from the X-men movies, dyed many easter eggy colors, and re-dyed it black... all on whims. Hair is hair, it'll grow back or it can be dyed.

RE:Rucksack weight,
GM's back is a common problem I expect!
You do the game at your house you have to run and clean up after,
do it at someone elses and you carry a library.
Wouldn't mind but for 7th sea I take an edited version of the books as there are at least three bags worth if I took them all (which would be a waste of time) then realise I only actually needed to refer to two of them during the game.

As to hair, go crazy, it will grow back.
But remember the first law of hair,
"Whatever you do you will hate it for at least a week."

I got a haircut a couple of weeks ago.

I loved it when I first got it.

And then I remembered, "Wait...My hair was this length for two years and I still don't know what the fuck to do with it! WAHHHH!!! I WANT MY PIGTAILS BACK!!!"

So, YMMV.

*gasp* Emergency dice! I have no emergency dice! How could I have neglected that?!

The rest of it sounds about right. I make up little sandwich bags of band-aids and Aspirin, carry around at least two books, my sketch tablet, a flippy-thing of CDs, mini-umbrella, pocket knife, all the little collapsible tools my dad always buys me ("You never know when you'll need a socket wrench"), etc. I've toned it down, since I realized it contributed greatly to neck pain. Your sack will probably be the culprit if the pain is neck, shoulders, or mid-back. Lower back is most likely your chair.
