I thought to myself, "Hey, here's an idea. Why don't I heat dinner, then sit down and eat in front of the TV? I'll watch Happy Tree Friends, since I planned to do so tonight anyway. How bad can it possibly be?"

[livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo? [livejournal.com profile] weaselbitch?

THERE IS SOMETHING VERY FUCKING WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE.

It's not so much the butchery of the small and cute. To be honest, they deserved no better. It's just that I'm never going to get that goddamned theme tune out of my head. And that is not appropriate dinner entertainment. That one requires a great deal of alcohol. Though I'd hate to think what kind of acid trip you'd have with that in the background.

I think I will give Urotsukidoji a miss tonight. Even I can take only so much mind-fuck.

I wondered if I should (have) warn(ed) you. If I'd known you were going to (try to) watch it while having dinner, I definitely would've done, believe me.

Though I'd hate to think what kind of acid trip you'd have with that in the background.

I think Big Steve wrote about it in Danse Macabre. Take a nervous seven-year-old, he suggested and a grown-up who'd just dropped acid, and put them in a Ludovico chair in front of a screen showing (the original) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. His guess was that the kid'd have nightmares for weeks, but the tripper would have to be stored in a soft-walled room for months.

I think I will give Urotsukidoji a miss tonight.

I second that notion.

they're your friends and you expected different?

ironically enough, tentacle rape might be a step *down* on the mind-fuck scale.

[and that is a sentence i never thought i'd ever ever ever type]

[livejournal.com profile] infodump once made me watch several episodes at once after I subjected him to all six episodes of "The Lonely Astronaut."

I was not right afterwards.

I watched the entire DVD. Fourteen episodes, back to back. In retrospect, I have no one to blame but myself.

Brave. Very brave.

However, Happy Tree Friends are loads of fun in very small doses. The cartoons were released one at a time on the Web.

But the whole DVD at once? I'm surprised your brain didn't explode.

Stupid. Very stupid.

Yeah, the whole DVD. While trying to eat. Not recommended. But then again, I did get through most of Evangelion in one long session and all of Lain in two back-to-backers, so I think my brain is made of pretty stern stuff.

Besides, I'm not allowed to let my brain explode until I get a webcam and can broadcast it. [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo says so.

Then again, I'm also pretty sure I said something along the lines of "Don't watch it all at once if brain-leaky avoidance is preferred." So much for *that* then.

No, you just said not to watch it and Urotsukidoji in the same sitting. You didn't say anything about dividing the Happy Tree Freak-Out into bite-sized chunks.

Oh well. At least I've managed to block out the theme tune. Now all the "la la la" people are typing at me wants to resolve into the Smurfs theme tune, which in a way is worse.
