Found this on [livejournal.com profile] cholten99's journal.

Apparently, Kerry won. Or at least could have, if he'd had the balls to contest a few things. But I knew that already. So did most of you.

See, this is the problem. If you fight for something, you might lose. If you don't fight, not only do you not win, but you never know if you could have. And are probably too cowed with fear and self-loathing to try again.

And so Kerry and his bunch feel they have no choice but to fade gently away into political obscurity because he was too weak and cowardly to fight a whole bunch of political smart-arses or risk a bit of a ragging by the media. And so the US has four more years.

Way to go.

I think he was trying to avoid months of dispute and leave us with some shred of dignity. I don't see how that jives with leaving Dubya in power, but Dubya is three million up in counted popular votes. Three million. That kinda makes me want to cry.

I don't suppose I could marry you for Canadian citizenship?

Wow. It's the diametric opposite of that god-awful "Green Card" movie.

Never saw it, but it's a common plot.

I guess that's the way things go these days. Not that anyone should let it go at that, though.
