We Don't Need No Education

I am going to take a deep breath and calm down now. Yeah, it sucks that I'm not going to be a teacher any time soon. But hey, it could be worse. I mean, at least this place isn't like working the canteen at Marconi. It does challenge the brain from time to time, at least, and they're not about to sack me just because I've had to go home ill.
My job pays enough to live on -- I have a roof over my head and all the other important things in life. Plus the things that money can't buy; good friends, relatively supportive family and, of course,
cholten99 -- you can't ask for much better than that last.
And at least I am smart. Sometimes it's inconvenient -- being smart enough to know just how much you're missing out on just because you haven't got the piece of paper saying you're smart, and how ludicrous it is for all the bright people who missed out on opportunities due to lack of funding for university -- but most of the time, I like it. I wouldn't be able to write without it, for one thing. In general, it's my brain that keeps me entertained, so I can't complain about that either.
In short, despite the fact that my job uses about 3% of my brain capacity, I should stop whining and take the good bits of my life as they come.
So there.

As you say, it pays. It may lack satisfaction to me, knowing I'm capable of so much more..but the money is useful and it gives me time to think and observe life in comfort.
Still occasionally demoralising though.
