Game Over?

Julie rang in sick today. I'm sure I'm an evil, evil, evil person for thinking this, but I hope she's not just being a hypochondriac and I hope she stays away all week. The quiet is just life-enhancing. Well, apart from the fact that we have Capital FM on and Hanson was played. I thought "Mmmm-Bop" got laughed out of existence years ago.

Lunch with SOINM went fine; I recommended him a book for the plane (lucky bugger's a slow reader and a Stephenson fan so I insisted he try "Snow Crash"), we wandered a lot and now he's off to Melbourne. God help the Aussies.

Dinner with the 'rents also went fine. SSD liked his present and laughed over the card and that's a victory in my book.

Then there was the lunacy over the still-in-contention gaming group. Basically, there was a lot of miscommunication and the entire thing resulted in my muse stamping her feet and shouting "Fuck the lot of you; you're all psychotic!" and locking herself in a closet. Which made finishing my little project rather difficult. I managed anyway, but I'm hoping to lure her back to put the finishing touches on. As it is, though, we're on an on-again-off-again situation reminiscent of my relationship with FOINM (First One I Nearly Married).

Here's where I am on it, for those of my cabal who're reading this. It's nice that you're "in". It's not nice that you're not enthused. I don't want to push people into something that's supposed to be fun if the enthusiasm isn't there. And if you're of the tribe of "Shows No Enthusiasm For Anything Ever"... You want to game like that? *BZZZT* I'm sorry, but that answer isn't even on the board. I appreciate that you don't want to nag. But I have the job and the muse who runs off on ten different tangents at once. If you're enthused ... don't nag; prod. Man cannot game by GM alone.

And I still have the flu. Everybody has the flu. And it will not go away. Damn epidemics.

what about the Posh and Beck thing? Those bastards!

Oh. I sort of tune out anything that starts with Posh and ends with Becks as a general rule. That and anything that starts with Jennifer and ends with Afflek. God, media vultures ... or maybe hyenas.

Wow. That didn't even get on my "Things to Avoid" radar consciously. I must be getting really good at this tuning things out thing.

i'm cursed with this morbid fascination for trivia, specially the salacious kind... even though I don't own or would ever buy into these dumb celebrities, I always seem to retain info about their lives.

Maybe you just need a new obsession. Creative writing. Learning a new language that requires a new alphabet. New and inventive ways of killing people without trace. That kind of thing. Having those kinds of interests tends to make your life too full for mindless trivia about even more mindless celebrities.

Mind you, I'd love to start a deadpool on David Blaine...

if you are starting a deadpool on David Blaine... count me in.

I do love to write, and I'm currently learning french... I think I just have too many interests, and part of my brain tells me: "hey, maybe one day it will be important for you to know about Lara Flyn Boyle's anorexia." I find it hard to distinguish the important from the mundane sometimes... which is not unusual, I think.

so, what's the deal with Blaine? Have you been to his site yet?

I walk past the Blaine-in-the-Box every time I go to my mother's place -- she lives not five minutes' walk away from there. If you mean website, no.

He's right in the middle of his 44 day stretch and he's at the hallucination point. I'm imagining the cave-in; emergency services having to be called, bring out the resus team! I'd guess he starts having severe medical problems on 2 October but the stupid fuck won't ask for help so he'll have to have medical intervention on the 3rd.

i think it's all a trick... there's some way he's getting food in there, and we are not seeing... he is an illusionist... so that's why I think he agreed to this. And the millions of dollars for allowing tv coverage afterwards.

Well, there's two ways to look at it ... protien and other supplements in his water .... or extensive training.
He put on a fair amount of wait before he went in, so his body has reserves, and he's not expending many calories per day of (in)activity.

What he's doing is no more (actually quite a bit less I believe) than many taoist / Zen monks and like do as part of thier training.

To be honest I'm not impressed. He should perhaps stick to street magic, that is what he's good at.
Just mho.
