Having a wonderful time ... NOT.

So the bidding: I came back to the Frankenbox in the hopes of getting it fixed and set up properly. I swear on all that's holy, this thing is just trying to drive me insane now.

1) At first, I still could not find my E drive. Then, while randomly trying to reinstall drivers and so forth, my 160GB drive just suddenly popped up again. Except now it's the F drive. I honestly don't understand, but I am not counting teeth in a gift horse.

2) For a little while, we had a bit of a problem in terms of getting the graphics drivers because we couldn't find the disk anywhere. However, that's okay because [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo remembered what type of graphics card he was using and got the drivers directly at the source. So at least I can view stuff now.

3) Having a minor problem with reinstalls right now. I try to install FFXI and it tells me that there's something it can't locate in the dynamic link library. So I've uninstalled the lot and then I'll just have to go reinstalling it again in the hopes that it'll actually work this time.

4) iTunes is also borked. I tried to install the latest version, but it says it requires QuickTime. So I try to install the version that comes with QuickTime, but ... it says that won't work without QuickTime either. None of this explains the fact that QuickTime is already installed on my computer. So another uninstall / reinstall...

On the whole, this is looking like being an utter and complete bastard. Oh well. Currently I'm distracting myself by pulling up some new desktop wallpapers. Though my current thing is to find iTunes and QuickTime, uninstall, and then reinstall the whole mess in the hopes that it'll actually work. Wish me luck.

It's been a difficult few days. Computer borkage. Tooth extraction. More computer borkage. On the whole, it hasn't exactly been red-letter. I've spent all afternoon alternately downloading drivers, asking [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo for help, rebooting the Frankenbox and reinstalling things an average of twice each. I've finally just about cracked the iTunes problem, FFXI is finally running again and on the whole, things are getting back to normal. However, this does not change the fact that I am tired, frustrated and fed up with the world at large. I honestly thought my mood would not lift until I had spent at least an hour letting my deathgnome beat on poor defenseless rabbit-creatures and such.

However, [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo recently came across one of the few things that could instantly provide at least a temporary bolster to my failing good cheer.

Serenity MMO!

*squeepoingsqueepoingsqueepoing*

Fine, not out 'til 2008. I can wait. OMFG *squee*!

Anyway. 73% done with the download I need to make iTunes work. Then, FFXI update time. Yes, I'm still tired and frustrated, but I can be of good cheer because, godsdamnit, in just over a year or so, SERENITY MMO! *squeeeeeeeeee*
