Oh, and by the way...

Not all of the stories are done yet. However, I have just about decided that I'm going to post one of the ones I finished, mostly because ... well, I've been writing all month and would like to reassure myself it isn't all crap. I'm thinking of the HIPPIE Case Files one, because it's the one I'm least likely to try and publish and I did like that one. It would be a shame if no one read it. Of course, I'm still all nervy about it. I can see that I've improved over the years but I still know I could be better. It's just never perfect, and that aggravates me. But I suppose that's a good thing - the more I strive for perfection, the closer I'll come to getting it someday and the better the imperfect work will be in the meantime.

Still ... a winner is me for another year. At least something's going right. Between the GI illness, not hearing from the agencies and a current issue with one of my wisdom teeth (the left lower side of my jaw is swollen and I look ridiculous; good thing I'm not really going out anywhere these days), I'm sort of counting the blessings I have - writing, RPing, my friends, dodgyhoodoo and my infinite capacity to amuse myself.

Note to self: must get out to the West End tomorrow to get gummies. Though I might try Atari-Ya first; they're closer and they may have some. Then the post office. Yay for the post office!

Crackfic

I was thinking about that old RPG characters meme and, inspired by Kai's response to that question when she did the meme, thinking I ought to at least consider the answer to that last question:
24) 1 and 9 reluctantly team up to save the world from the threat posed by 4's sinister secret organization. 11 volunteers to help them, but it is later discovered that he/she is actually a spy for 4. Meanwhile, 4 has kidnapped 12 in an attempt to force their surrender. Following the wise advice of 5, they seek out 3, who gives them what they need to complete their quest. What title would you give this fic?

VIOLET: Who the hell are you?

AIDAN: Um. Your ... sidekick?

VIOLET: Damn straight. Who're we kicking the arse of?

KAYLA: Supposedly, me.

VIOLET: ...

AIDAN: ...

SGT HARD-BITCH: I'm working for a what now? I'm supposed to blow the living shit out of RDs, not spy for them! Oh, fuck this.

KAYLA: I have your ... doctor-thing.

AIDAN: Um ... begging your pardon, but I'm a doctor myself. It's not as though we have a shortage of medical personnel.

MOIRA: Does this mean I'm not getting rescued, then? Shit.

GRACE: No, you gotta go rescue the Kin! I'd do it myself, but there's this demon stuff in San Francisco that's kind of eating my life right now, so why don't you talk to her over there with the big axe? She might be able to help you but to be honest I'm not sure she speaks English so you might be out of luck unless one of you can translate but then again she might not even speak human, so...

VIOLET: Oh, will you SHUT UP?

BERA: ...Here.

VIOLET: Okay, what the fuck is this?

AIDAN: I believe it is a rune. What does it do?

BERA: Shows how my ancestors dealt with a similar situation. Allows for decent tactics.

AIDAN: How fascinating!

RUNE: She's a demigod. You're all fucked.

AIDAN: ...

VIOLET ...Well, I'm a polytheist. I can live with a goddess-thing taking over the world. You?

AIDAN: I'm an Objectionist. Theus will surely ... oh, who am I kidding? All hail ... who are we hailing again?

...Yeah. Crackfic. I suppose the best I could come up with as a title would be "Strange Bedfellows" - none of the alliances here make a damn bit of sense.

Cameos

...Friend of mine and gaming shop down the road from where I live get their own cameo in Dork Tower today! Yay, angusabranson! Dork Tower-style angusabranson really needs printing, cutting out and sticking on the wall - so cute. It's stuff like this that reminds me that the internet is a far smaller world than I'd previously considered, and makes me wonder if Special Agent Alan Turing is just a coincidence.
