Oh, today has been a metric arseload of fun.

Did. Not. WANT. To get out of bed this morning. The fact that I managed it at all seems a minor miracle. Deep chesty cough, runny nose, general fatigue and achy. Apparently, the last lurgy to trash my system with one of its wild orgy parties waited until I tidied up and restocked the fridge and left the door wide open for the next bastard bunch of virii. Hate the virii.

And of course, was today particularly restful? No. Every time I turned around today it was, "Oh, this needs doing RightNowThisMinute. So does this, this and this." I only have two hands and only operate on one level of spacetime. I cannot do everything at once. Prioritise, people, PRIORITISE!

Somehow I have been getting it all done. I don't know how. I stopped even remotely thinking at least three hours ago. At least I'm currently in the middle of the mindless "Cannot do anything until everything's done printing" stage of events, so I can have a bit of a breather.

Lurgy and busiest day ever. Lucky, lucky me.

I figure there are two reasons that it was good that I went to work today:

1) Given that I sound like a foghorn and spent most of the day sniffling, coughing, sneezing and occasionally involuntarily whimpering (I shit you not; I only realised at some point in the afternoon that I'd been doing it all day), the office staff now know that I do not stay off work sick for the least little thing. After all, I managed to drag myself in today, sounding like that.

2) If by chance I am still feeling atrocious in the morning and have difficulty getting out of bed, and really need to 'call' in sick, the office staff are going to know that I am not lying or exaggerating about being sick. Again.

This makes me feel somewhat better, as you can imagine. Not, y'know, physically, but about the possibility that I will be bedridden again at some point this week. It also helps that I completely cleared the decks today, meaning that anything new that lands on my desk will not be obscuring anything old and causing it to be unnecessarily delayed. That's if I have to call in sick tomorrow. I'm hoping I don't have to, because I don't like being ill. But if I have to, I guess I have to. Ugh.
