This morning's run of online job applications has paid off. Immediately after posting one of the applications (Team Secretary position; looked okay to me), I got a phone call from a lady at the recruitment agency (not too perky, so that's okay). She told me that I was probably overqualified for that particular job but that she was very keen to have me in to register. I have heard this one before. However, a new one on me is the ability to take the typing and Word/Excel/whatever tests online in the comfort of your own home, not to mention all the application forms and stuff. I think I'm liking this -- this way I don't have to sit in their offices for hours on end. I will do the tests at some point either today or tomorrow, as the registration session is Friday. With luck, this lot won't entirely ignore me.

Now on to what [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo refers to as "Uratha-wrangling", not to mention working on the settings, background and NPC stuff for Affils. I suppose I must have known on some level how much work RPGs actually take, but I didn't really register it -- after all, I was never going to have to do it, right? I should stop assuming these things -- if it's creative, odds are I'm going to take it up at some point, even on a small scale. Eesh.

Things that need a-runnin', from the POV of Sourcebook Central 2.0:

* Forsaken (scheduled for mid-week evening runs for the next six weeks or so; check)
* Hunter (not scheduled; whenever [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo comes up with a bit more in the way of ideas)
* Affiliates (not scheduled; must write up setting stuff, NPC stuff, get some layout ideas from [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo and give [livejournal.com profile] weaselbitch some background on artwork)
* Exalted (not scheduled; that's an ideally Sunday game so that [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo does not lose his perfect circle of Solar Exalts, and that kind of puts the kibosh on cancelling Mage to make room for it because Kat and Mark want the alternate Sunday free)
* New World of Darkness, Mortals (not scheduled, but probably a mid-weeker)

There is not enough damn time in the world. Oh well; with a little flexibility and a lot of negotiation, I'm sure we can work something out. I just hope negotiations can actually happen in any way, shape or form. At the end of the day, we all kind of suck at communication. Either we're afraid of saying what we think for fear of offending anyone, don't really care enough one way or another to do anything or just can't be arsed with trying anymore. Either that or we don't want to listen. Sometimes both. It's a little disheartening.

In short, I think we the gaming group needs to have a conversation. You know, a real one, where everyone says exactly what they think and aren't afraid of bloody well offending anyone -- we're friends; just because we have different opinions doesn't mean that we have to get into a snit about said opinions. Or at least, it shouldn't. I don't know if any of the rest of us really think there's a problem, but we shouldn't be afraid to find out, and change it if there is one.

Argh. No, I don't want to do this either. It's stress I don't need. But the alternative is worse. So next time we all meet up, I think we need to talk, guys.
