I survived another lot of testing. This time, my typing speed came up at 94 words per minute. I am told that this is freakishly fast. I reply that, since I am a freak, it all works out. So now I live in hope that there will be something coming up soon. However, given that it's the Easter holidays coming up, I doubt I'll hear about anything that will start before Tuesday.

Yesterday afternoon was interesting. I met Jon and Maria and, while a lot of the conversation involved people I didn't know, it was still fun. It's always good to meet people with new points of view. After that, we discovered a little African restaurant in Covent Garden (nice food, reasonable ambience, service was fine until you wanted to pay the bill and leave, at which point it became a little sketchy), then sat in the Round Table (one of the few quiet pubs in that area of town) and chatted for ages. It was a good day all told, migraine notwithstanding.

No, it hasn't gone away yet. Stupid fucking migraine hell-thing.

Apparently Annie's going to be staying here for the duration of the week. At least there's net connection and the DVD collection to keep me out of their hair. Never a bad thing. Though I will be glad when there's not the various issues surrounding whose SO is staying where when. It's kind of silly, all things considered.

Grey rainy Tuesday. Bleeeeeeeeeeegh.

Pardon me while I *squee* in a happy, nervous yet still cautious way.

A few days ago, [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo and I were discussing living arrangements. It's daft for him to still be living with [livejournal.com profile] weaselbitch and sleeping on the living room floor. It's also kind of daft for me to still be living with [livejournal.com profile] cholten99, only less so. Plus it was intensely daft for both of us to get poky rooms in shared houses with Aussie backpackers because it's all we can each afford on our own. So, with all due nervousness, we decided to look for a place together.

We saw the first one this afternoon. With luck, it will be the last one. It's perfect; reasonably priced to the point where we first thought, "What's wrong with it?" -- except there's nothing wrong with it! Fine, some of the decor leaves something to be desired and the place needs a clean, but that's all surface. What counts is the space itself. The living room's just about the right size and organisation for gaming sessions, the kitchen actually has space to fit more than one person, it's two-bedroom and the second one won't take much tweaking to turn into a study, the master bedroom is of a good size and has lots of storage space ... need I go on? Then we talk about location -- a couple of blocks from Tally Ho corner, a good midpoint between his and [livejournal.com profile] weaselbitch's flat and that shared by [livejournal.com profile] corone and Claire. Also just a bus ride away from Kat, Mark and Simson in Golders Green. As [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo put it to [livejournal.com profile] weaselbitch, "Have seen flat. Must have flat". He's e-mailed the agent saying that we want it and asking about terms and whether or not Yuki can accompany us, after mentioning that she's housetrained (well, pretty much), fixed and doesn't claw the furniture. Either way, here's hoping.

[Edit: Additional features of the flat include a gas hob and garden access with little patio (ground floor flat), which means I can have a little potted herb garden, which I have wanted since I moved to England but never had the space for.]

Yeah, I know it all seems awfully fast, but keep in mind that he and I have known each other for over a year now, and been very good friends for several months. Plus we've proved that we can spend over 24 hours in each other's company without encountering problems, which is a good thing if you're going to share living space with someone. Anyway, we've both discussed it, we're happy and it's all going ahead. Go, us. And then [livejournal.com profile] weaselbitch gets run of the flat and we can go 'round each other's flats for dinner and host gaming nights so [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo can be involved in more gaming and social activity without having to worry about getting home if he's on earlies and all that kind of thing.

It's all been going so smoothly (fate, ka or just really good luck) that I get this impression that I've just used up all my karma points with this bit of fabulousness. However, as it has been put, it's a bit like XP in games -- sometimes you just have to save up for something really big. And after five or so years in the NHS, I think I've earned a buttload of good karma.
