Happy New Year!

[livejournal.com profile] cholten99 decided to ring in the new year atmospherically, with tea light candles and the TV doing the countdown. Unfortunately, the tea lights weren't in anything, and he set them by the windows. Our dear attention-sucking cat Yuki likes to lounge on the windowsill and look out the windows. Therefore, about ten seconds after midnight, she ran her tail into one of the tea light candles. Yes, and set her tail on fire.

There will be no more jokes about setting the cat on fire, putting her in the oven or at least anything heat-related. It's a damn good thing our cat is mostly Persian and the flame didn't even touch her skin -- I've never seen [livejournal.com profile] cholten99 move so fast as when he went to put her tail out. She didn't even notice anything was wrong; now she's just a bit nervy of the fireworks outside.

The flat now smells of burnt hair. Go, Yuki.

My first official act of the New Year has been to give a burial at sewer to one of [livejournal.com profile] cholten99's goldfish, who I found floating at the top of the tank this morning. Goodbye, mid-sized fish; we barely knew ye. Actually, Yuki knew ye fairly well because you taunted her at every opportunity. Yuki tends to sit on top of the fishtank going "Ooooooooooooh. Fish" and then sticking a paw in the water very briefly before hauling it out again, looking at it perplexedly as if to say, "Ewwwwwwwwwwww. Wet" and then forgets the whole thing and goes back to staring at the water going "Ooooooooooooh. Fish". The cat with the goldfish memory span, I swear.

I can type again without monumental pain! Huzzah! Seriously, that was getting annoying; I can deal with slight ache but that was just not pleasant. So I managed to make the additions to the Convivium notes that suggested themselves upon reading some of the new sourcebooks. Oh, incidentally, [livejournal.com profile] weaselbitch? You want to go "Eek" at me about doing one speech? Try working out a dozen; then we'll see who's "eek"ing. I don't think I'm completely finished with the set-ups yet, but I know me; I could go on forever, extrapolating what I know of the characters and those who play them and throwing interesting little land mines in the direction I'm pretty sure they'll go, and other interesting little land mines in directions they might go in. But of course I'm not done yet. Tomorrow, Lucius will be presented with his mentor's documentation about Psuelak, Constantine and any other minions; gotta write that, which means I need to finish the Brigade and plant a few other clues in the mix. Not that this stuff is going to get used anytime soon, since I don't know how long in real time they're going to be stuck in the Savoy, but it's always best to be prepared.

I've been a bit distracted, though, what with Deadly Doses and all. I'm sure it disturbs people just how much fun I can have reading about snake venom and poisonous plants. Actually, [livejournal.com profile] cholten99 said something about, "You're pacing the corridors reading about poisons and grinning. I'm not at all disturbed by this; no I'm not". To look at me, though, you wouldn't think I was scary, would you?
