30 Days of Blog Meme: Day 5

I had to dig around my archives for a meme I did ages ago to find the list of five quotes that best summed me up, because I recall there was at least one that I thought: "...YES." And so I did my archives trawl and here it is:
We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing. Action always generates inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates action.

It's the kind of thing I tell myself when I'm doing NaNo or when I've got writing to do but am too tired or disheartened or whatever. The more all-encompassing version is as follows:
"Today shall not be wasted."

I've found that those five words get me through the harder times when success may rely on the whims of others but at least I'm not being idle. Sometimes just the act of doing something productive can make the day seem brighter.
Which is why, after I've finished my coffee (and the coffee has been finished in a moment of amusement that more or less fits a 'Scenes from the Sitting Room' skit), I am going to go out for a walk with my notebook and my pen and my iPod full of awesome music and whether it's while I'm out or when I return, those notes and first paragraphs of a Chapter 20? They're going to get finished. Chapter 20 will be mine today. Action will generate inspiration, and today shall not be wasted.
And so I keep going down the checklist:
Day 01 → your favourite song

Day 03 → your favourite television program
Day 04 → your favourite book
Day 05 → your favourite quote
Day 06 → whatever tickles your fancy
