So in FFXI, there are good parties, and there are bad parties. Today, I had a good one. I like it when they're good ones.
I got lucky in that my party flag wasn't up thirty seconds before someone sent me a tell: "((XP)) ((Do you need it?))" The great thing about being a mage in this game is that you're a lot more likely to get a party quickly -- though that doesn't necessarily mean that your party's any good. Still, I've been stuck at level 23 for a month or so because I've been so ill, so I figured it would be good enough. At least it'd move me in approximately the right direction. So off I tromped to Qufim to meet up with the party. Minor problem with a Dancing Weapon standing in my way, but luck was with me again - a high-level somebody-or-other was farming the area and attacked it before I got too much damage.
The party had not one but two PLers to start with, though we weren't doing much - chaining Pugils, mainly. Eventually one PLer left and we decided to head for Lower Delkfutt's Tower to chain some Giants. Thankfully, since I was with a party, at least I didn't get lost this time. But I swear, that party was a thing of beauty. I hit lvl 24 with no problem and then burned through to lvl 25 with hardly any hitches. We got replacements for members who had to disband in pretty short order, even when our PLer had to leave. There wasn't a lot of chat, no one had anything really stupid as a macro ... glorious. This is how parties should be.
Now I just need to figure out where to go to level past 25 ... but I've got time for that. I'm going to do some farming with my mule for awhile, and then solo WHM past lvl 12 for more farming. I need the gil - there are three spells I really need, and I could use better armour. Anything that gets me better MP is good, I think - I don't tend to take a lot of damage in combat. Well ... I say that. The only problem we had in tonight's party was our puller getting overzealous and careless - we pulled a few links. I tried to be smart about it - I slept the one we linked and that worked, but its last action before conking out was to throw something at an already wounded me, and the PLer was busy keeping our tank alive to notice until I died. However, he raised me and I hung back and earned XP while I healed, so no problem.
Going for sushi with Mum tomorrow. Apparently, Ikkyusan - one of my favourite places, with the mouth-watering sushi and the gyoza to die for - gets completely slated in the reviews. I don't get why, but ... well, just goes to show you can't trust a reviewer as far as you can throw one sometimes.
Then Friday, we meet with
weaselbitch for a drink. I also want to give
weaselbitch her Christmas present a little bit early. Well, possibly a lot early, depending on how much difference you figure a week makes. She can't for the life of her imagine why I'd be so keen to give her this gift early. And all I can do is grin.
