Okay, in regards to Charleston by Night, I am confused. Not unhappy (quite the opposite) but very, very confused. Please, someone explain to me how this works:
1) Basic info: Arrives in Charleston. Makes contact with the local Dreamspeakers (the two who actually get played by people with a modicum of fucking sense, anyway). Makes contact with a local cabal of Cultists and Verbena, and is considered for membership (no one has said anything about this yet; see point 4). Makes contact with just about everybody at a Spirit Seminar hosted by a Hermetic. Makes contact with a new-in-town Orphan who she knows from the online pagan forums. Generally sets up a full-on contact network of mages in the space of a few weeks, game-time.
2) Turns up at the hangout of the local Cultist / Verbena cabal and finds ... Cultists and Euthanatoi. Is informed that those Trads did a vision quest awhile back, and is invited to have a look at the sketches that came out of the vision. Sees sketches of burning house, possible magic on a beach, an arch in a garden, a payoff, a woman in pain - apparently in childbirth gone wrong, and at least mention of a woman with dry, possibly oft-coloured hair, blunt hard nails and an association of a sense of coldness. Makes suggestions and guesses, is roundly ignored, and leaves after repeated shut-down by grumpy Euthie bastard.
3) Upon being informed that current Dreamspeaker Trad Rep is stepping down for at least a year (pregnant), Nina is invited to be one half of a team representation effort. So is now looking at Trad Co-Rep status ... after a few weeks, game-time.
4) Attends Verbena Solstice party. Is in attendance when Verbena Solstice party blows up, killing two (one, Verbena from local cabal, was killed outright; the other, grumpy Euthie bastard, died of Paradox backlash later). Goes into Verbal Bitch-Slap Mode 2.0 (now with extra crazy) on one of the Euthies about keeping shtum about the vision quest. Goes into fugue for a week.
5) Comes out of fugue after visitation from much-loved Verbena from local cabal. Meets local Chorister, who informs her that after the explosion, he had a vision that included a woman with changing-colour hair (possibly oft-dyed, and therefore probably dry) and blunt hard nails, and was associated with a sense of coldness. Goes rant-a-licious for awhile, not understanding why the bloody fuck no one is talking to each other or why she's the only one getting within shouting distance of the whole picture here.
6) Turns up at Lighthouse Ambassadorial Chantry (regular hangout and site of local node). Is informed that residents of the Lighthouse are vacating the premises, as is not safe. Offers to move in herself as area is a node and needs constant surveillance. Also states that whole Mage population needs to talk as soon as possible in the safest location they can find. Suggests meeting at a Verbena property outside of town, car-pooling and glamouring or borrowing alternate licence plates for whatever cars go there. Will also be suggesting at least three or four different routes to the place and arranging staggered arrival times as well as ensuring at least some security for the Lighthouse if possible.
So long story short. Nina, still at Arete 1 and only been in town for a few weeks, has become trusted enough to represent her Tradition on a local level, is now acting as sentry on the local node and will be organising a council of war quite soon. How do these things happen to my characters? It's the same with Grace on Hollow City; all of a sudden, she's a Pack Alpha and one of the few Garou in the city that grumpy bastard Bone Gnawer guy can stand. I'm not complaining; I'm just confused. I don't try to be all leadery (in fact, none of my characters have Leadership, though that will have to change, I think), but ... it just happens.
Anyhow, I will not dwell on that so much; I will just look foward to finding out what happens next.
...It won't be tonight, because I have a scene-date with Whit this evening, but I have to get back to my Sims at some point. I feel this need to do architecture and interior design. Well, maybe Saturday.
