Compare / Contrast

...So I'm apparently not doing my job well enough because I don't fill things out in triplicate and can't be in five places at once. I must be some sort of minor deity, or I'm not worth employing.
Compare and contrast:
One of my instructions involved chasing up a comment from one of the members of the Editorial Board on an older paper. I couldn't find it in my system anywhere, so I assumed it must not have arrived and wrote the Editorial Board member to chase it up. I just got a phone call from Lady Competence saying, "Don't chase him up! We already received that and I passed it along to [Ham-Fisted Editor] myself! Sorry; it just didn't go through you; it went through Michael, who sent it to me, and then I sent it to [Ham-Fisted Editor]". So apparently, he forgot this entirely and Lady Competence, bless her, tried to catch his fuck-up, only to find that, too late! I, with all due eficiency, had already done my job and chased up the apparently non-existent commentary.
That and he can't spell, can't use grammar, asks me for papers that don't exist, gives me faulty contact details for referees and generally sends out a slew of directions that don't make sense.
And I'm the one being told I'm not good enough.
I think I'm going to go home and mope.
