Psycho Therapy
Feb. 9th, 2008 12:40 am"Ever been to a psychologist Thess? People don't pay for success. They pay for sessions. They pay to hear themselves talk to themselves without looking foolish."
...Here would be the most fuckwitted statement I have heard in quite some time.
Look, I went to the therapist for years. I did it to get over clinical depression and suicidal ideation, not to mention what I think they called 'borderline personality disorder'. It was by no means a one-way street. Sometimes answers, opinions and self-analyses were prodded out of me with a stick, examined and discussed in detail. It was definitely a two-person operation, not just me talking to 'myself'. Because gods know that didn't get me anywhere. I hated the process a lot of the time. It sucked, and I would have preferred not to sit in an office for an hour a week, going over bits of my past and thought processes that made me horrifically unhappy.
But I did it. Why? Because I wanted to get better. So yes, I paid for success, and in more than just money. And if that's one's view of psychology ... just ... grah!
I am NOT A HAPPY PUPPY.
