thessalian: (fed up)
Agency emailed saying, "I'll try to find you a job with less to do, but keep in mind that all med sec jobs are going to ask you to do things that you aren't necessarily getting paid for. Please advise."

No mention of the ergonomic problems and so forth that I mention in the previous email. Guess who completely missed the point. I've sent the following as a reply:

With regards to future roles, I should make it clear that I honestly don't mind extra duties, even if they're not necessarily in the original remit. When I took this role the first time around, the fact that I was asked to do PA work as well as clearing the backlog of typing wasn't even something I thought was worth mentioning, as it happens quite a bit and I'm fully aware of that. I'm definitely not adverse to a challenge, and was hesitant to ask for transfer out of this role because I was rather afraid that it'd be taken as a statement of not being able to handle a heavy workload. However, I chose to ask for reassignment primarily because of the ergonomic problems in the office and general dissatisfaction with the working environment, rather than because I think the job is too hard. So it's not unwillingness to accept hard work, or even not wanting to do things that aren't in my job description - I would just prefer a role that will not leave me in intense physical pain.

See? I try to do something for the good of my health and I get belittled for it. And now I'm going to go to bed. I've slept off most of the stress and my back doesn't hurt quite as much, so I'll be up and out and ready for more torture bright and early tomorrow. Yay.

Less of the backache today, although there is still a certain amount of pain. Most of it's the head, though. Today's migraine was prodigious to say the least. Still is, come to that, but at least it's toned down enough so that I can do something besides lie in bed with a pillow over my eyes hating the world in general.

No response from agency lady about my last email. Certainly no reassignment. This is irritating. Oh well. If I have to put up with it for another week, I have to put up with it for another week - end of statement. Hopefully it won't cripple me completely. That would be nice.

In other news, it would appear that the government in this country has gone completely mad. Despite four resignations and a whole lot of dissent in the ranks, we're going ahead with Trident. I don't understand why we need nuclear weapons, I don't understand why we need to revamp nuclear weapons that aren't going to be obsolete for another 20 years, I certainly don't get why we have to pay quite that amount of money to revamp nuclear weapons that we don't need and aren't going to be obsolete for another 20 years, and as for the whole "needing US approval to fire our own 'nuclear deterrent'" shit ... it boggles the mind.

This is also the country that now wants to keep the fingerprints and DNA profiles of such criminals as litterers on file. But ... where are they going to keep this data? I mean, seriously, with the number of people in Britain... Just because data is an intangible thing doesn't mean it doesn't take up space when stored on computers! Honestly, can we save the database for, y'know, people who you want to stick in jail instead of using this asinine idea as yet another way to keep every Briton's personal details on file?

On the whole, I'm just a little too tired and grumpy to rant as much as these situations deserve. So I'll focus on the positive and say that The Now Show is back (gods bless podcasting) and best of all, Marcus Brigstock is back! I missed him. He rants so lovely.
