Misunderstanding
Mar. 15th, 2007 01:31 amAgency emailed saying, "I'll try to find you a job with less to do, but keep in mind that all med sec jobs are going to ask you to do things that you aren't necessarily getting paid for. Please advise."
No mention of the ergonomic problems and so forth that I mention in the previous email. Guess who completely missed the point. I've sent the following as a reply:
With regards to future roles, I should make it clear that I honestly don't mind extra duties, even if they're not necessarily in the original remit. When I took this role the first time around, the fact that I was asked to do PA work as well as clearing the backlog of typing wasn't even something I thought was worth mentioning, as it happens quite a bit and I'm fully aware of that. I'm definitely not adverse to a challenge, and was hesitant to ask for transfer out of this role because I was rather afraid that it'd be taken as a statement of not being able to handle a heavy workload. However, I chose to ask for reassignment primarily because of the ergonomic problems in the office and general dissatisfaction with the working environment, rather than because I think the job is too hard. So it's not unwillingness to accept hard work, or even not wanting to do things that aren't in my job description - I would just prefer a role that will not leave me in intense physical pain.
See? I try to do something for the good of my health and I get belittled for it. And now I'm going to go to bed. I've slept off most of the stress and my back doesn't hurt quite as much, so I'll be up and out and ready for more torture bright and early tomorrow. Yay.
