Okay, I know I did the total reinstall thing on the Frankenbox before Christmas. I know this very, very well. I know full well that when I installed FFXI, I installed all the expansion packs too. So why is it, please, that when I tried to get on the ferry to Al Zhabi, it told me that I could not proceed to the next zone because the Treasures of Aht Urghan expansion pack was not installed? What is wrong with you, you bloody machine?

*sigh* I will have to go and try to install the damn thing again. But I don't understand. Another thing that came up with the Treasures of Aht Urghan EP was chocobo raising. I checked on my chocobo this afternoon! With no problems! Fine, it still has sucky stats and doesn't give a shit about me, but the machine didn't tell me that I couldn't even check on it because the relevant EP wasn't installed! Same deal with the stupid flashing badges that get your character in with the Aht Urghan mercenary guilds...

I just want to go and get a shield, godsdamnit. Well, I suppose I am now thankful to weaselbitch because if I hadn't decided to go on a quest to Aht Urghan Whitegate for her Elvaan character's shield, I wouldn't have found out about this until I wanted to go there for a longer-term, serious reason like, I dunno, levelling.
