Not much has been going on this weekend, save me being incredibly bored and two things of any real interest. So in order:

1) Saturday night / Sunday morning: Finally, enough people turned up online that we could do a little chat RP on the general subject of "Okay, we have managed to scatter from the wreckage of the burning Verbena house and are now in some house / store hybrid thing in the middle of fucking nowhere; now what?" [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo couldn't join us, unfortunately, because it was a little late in the day for him, even for a weekend -- due to circumstances of time zones etc, we did wind up starting at about 2 am GMT. From the sounds of things, he's not going to wind up being in chat games at all at this rate, which is a pity because that's where a lot of the fun happens.

In any case, playing the traumatised borderline psychotic is so much fun, but is incredibly hard to do ... well, no, I tell a lie. It's incredibly easy to do badly. Doing it well, however, takes effort. It's like cooking, I suppose; you sit there and you go, "Too much? Too little? Maybe we should be throwing in some sanity right about now? Just a pinch for flavour, you understand. No, that doesn't work; go back to the catatonic ball on the floor..." ARGH.

(I was told later that it's easy to tell when someone's pulling psychoses out of their arse and who knows about serious mental trauma from either personal or second-hand experience. Yeah, for various reasons, I decided not to go into that too far. I just took the damn compliment and basically shut up.)

Anyway, between [livejournal.com profile] ilyena_sylph, [livejournal.com profile] darkdanc3r, a character named Wharil and little old me, we were quite the bunch of traumatised loonies in one sense or another. And everybody did fantastically, I thought. So that was a great deal of fun, even if it did mean that I got to bed at 5 am (I did stop gaming at 4:30 but it took me half a godsdamned hour to get the cat off the top of the wardrobe).

2) Sunday Afternoon: We had [livejournal.com profile] weaselbitch over and had a barbeque. I don't think we'll be doing that again. I have a hard time eating outside in the bright, those disposable single-use barbeques are a pain in the butt and generally it didn't go all that well, food prep-wise. We then sat down and watched Domino, which was great fun, if a little reliant on visual tricks and generally marred by this one moment of absolute and complete WTF just before the big climax. Well, if [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo is to be believed, at least it was better than the ending to The Forgotten. I didn't watch the whole movie, but managed to catch the ending, and then watched [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo make as if to punt the TV out the window. I think that one's going on his "FILM RANT RAAR!" list somewhere beneath League of Extraordinary Gentleman...

And looking to the future, we're having a bit of a wondering about what to do on the alternate Sundays now that Changeling's gone and tanked. Now, I am perfectly happy to start Forsaken on 9th July (werewolves! Werewolves! Thank you [livejournal.com profile] weaselbitch for being okay with the werewolves!), but am aware that [livejournal.com profile] neonchameleon may be busy again. I am also aware that [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo has been looking at Exalted books. So I don't know what's going to happen yet; I suppose that depends on the gents. I have a fortnight anyway...

Ooh. Must pick up some Forsaken supplements.

Anyway. I suppose I should get back to work. It's still slow today, but this is a good thing! Not complaining, me.
