Facts and Figures
Jun. 21st, 2006 10:22 amSo in order to escape from the drudgery of work, I sit and ponder non-work things. For instance, the fact that payday cometh and that right early but not quite early enough for my liking. And the fact that the weekend cometh and that right early but not nearly early enough for my liking. And the fact that Sunday cometh and yet again I have absolutely no fucking idea what I'm supposed to do with it.
It's certainly not going to be Changeling, not this weekend. I know that
neonchameleon has a life and everything, and while I wish he'd mentioned the possibility of this party sooner, it's understandable that he'd wait until things were finalised before telling me. However, the fact remains that I need all three players to effectively run Changeling, and I'm not sure I can have all three. The last thing I want is to wind up with a lunch like the one we had prior to a months-ago Mage session, where the whole afternoon basically imploded because of last-minute player absence. Besides,
neonchameleon should be able to linger at his party and not feel bad about said lingering. Also,
dodgyhoodoo is still ill and shows few if any signs of improving, so it's probably better that we just stay in and let him rest. So, announcement: no Changeling on Sunday.
In fact, I'm thinking that it may as well just tank now, without the bother of resolving the whole mess. Because, quite frankly, by the time we actually do get to sit down and play again, it will have been two months between sessions. It'd be one thing if we'd resolved the plot thread and then taken a break of that length, but as it is, we took an extraordinarily long hiatus right around the climactic point and ... well, that kind of hiccup is going to make anything fall flat. So I won't be picking up the adventures of Edward, Lesley and Silas again. It just wouldn't work.
So I suppose I'll be spending Sunday thinking about what I'm going to do next. Probably Forsaken, if
weaselbitch is remotely willing. I don't really want to do new Mage because I'd rather pick it up to replace old Mage once we've finished the Restart Chronicle of DOOM, and Requiem ... ugh. Just no. I'd rather not do old WoD, either, though a short mixed Changing Breeds campaign could be interesting. Of course, I'd really like to pick up BESM again at some point, but I'd have to do some calendar juggling to get the whole cast back and then there would need to be tracking down character sheets and what have you - it's been awhile.
In terms of other people running stuff,
dodgyhoodoo said something about Serenity but I am so not keen it isn't even funny at this point - even if I hadn't gone right out of 'Space Western' mode (hence my turning to Buffy rather than Firefly for my Whedon fix of late), or was more into spacefaring adventure RPing in the first place (never really been my bag, honestly), I keep having
corone's-Firefly-scenario-for-con flashbacks and it does my head no good. Of course,
dodgyhoodoo has also pulled out the Hellboy sourcebook, so that's something. He also said something about picking up Exalted again on weekdays, so that could be fun.
And anyway, I'm currently sorting out where my paycheque is going this month. If I do decide to buy the PSP, that's pretty much it for shinies for the month (what with games etc) but if I don't, there could be sourcebooks. Decisions, decisions. Plus must pick up "So Much Shouting, So Much Laughter" whatever happens - a recent
customers_suck post has given me a desperate yearning to hear "Self-Evident", and while Mum did pick up some Ani for me while she was in North America, she didn't get that one. She did, however, get me "Dilate" and "Not a Pretty Girl", and David even got me a two-disc set called Revelling/Reckoning, which was nice of him. (I suppose anything that doesn't sound like my normal Dead Animal Mutilation Music (tm) is to be encouraged, even though I'm nearly 30.) I must also email my mother back and try to arrange a dinner or something.
So I'm bored and using Excel to help me budget my month a little better. I did really well this month all things considered but still find myself a teeny touch short. Still, it's rare to find me with cash still available, however little of it, with only a day and a half to go before payday. I think I'm getting better at this stuff. I really should go back to buying cigs in multipacks, though - saves hassle as much as money, y'know? So I'll have to take that into account with my figuring and ... okay, I'll shut up. It's just all so very adult and weird. It'll be housecleaning next. Yeah, right, and wild monkeys might fly out of my butt.
