Still not king.

Screw the hell out of this. I realise that the STs have lives but frankly, if you're going to leave a thread hanging there for days, you should be courteous enough to let said thread die already if someone needs it killed. And y'know, I don't feel as annoyed for my own personal sake as I do for the people who are stuck in a rather combat-heavy thread with no clue as to whether their character is going to live or die, given the seriousness of their situation. Admittedly, that thread can't just be allowed to die, but...

Well, anyway, I've stuck my oar into another thread; it's a likely scenario, given that the clock just ticked over to 'late morning', and the guy maintaining that solo thread is someone I talk to on a fairly regular basis on IM, and the idea of our characters meeting has come up. And since Grace (my character) is such a gregarious little sod, her walking up to Ms Random J Resident unpacking a U-Haul and asking about flat prices in the area is really not out of character at all.

I'd say I like gregarious little sods as characters, because you're seldom stuck for an excuse to introduce yourself, but ... well, [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo has suggested that Kid Mage is a Marauder and Grace is stuck in some skewed-reality imaginary coffeeshop for all eternity, and I wouldn't be in that mess if my character were less gregarious. And more suspicious. Or possibly less suspicious.

And you know what? Maybe still not king. But unlike Hamlet, I'm actually not a dithering wishy-washy sod. Still not king? I'll make me king. So ha.

Oh bollocks, so underslept...

Help meeeeeee...

You wouldn't believe it, but there is nothing to do. Work-wise, I mean. Nothing. Zip. Nada. Bupkiss. Diddly. I managed to clear a week's worth of backlog in a single day. I should be happy about this. And really, in a way, I am. It's just that there's no new work because, while Ham-Fisted Editor and Lady Competence are in, they are currently in a meeting which (knowing this lot) will last all afternoon and so I still won't get any work out of either of them and I'm looking at the rest of the day being pretending to work.

There are problems with this, the main one being that it's hard pretending to work at the minute. The Americans aren't up yet which means, quite frankly, still not king. I'm too tired to focus on writing so the [livejournal.com profile] non_plot challenge is out for the time being, as is any Affils work, random fiction or general plotting. And there's only so much LiveJournal.

It's going to have to be rereads of webcomics and computer chess. And the eMac kicks my arse. Despite it not having feet. It kicks my arse with the feet it doesn't have; that's how much I suck at chess.

It's like being on a desert island with a chessboard, a smug mute chess master and a very quick message-in-a-bottle service that primarily delivers spam.

They went to lunch a half-hour ago. They will apparently be "quite awhile". I am not sure what scale that's supposed to be on, but since I think Michael said something about one of the people at this gathering being a heavy drinker, I think we may be referring to continental drift timetabling here. And there is still nothing to do.

No work.

No writing.

Still not king.

Fuck this; I am going to lunch. You know, I could probably go home and no one would notice.
