Shiny New Games

Want to go home now plzkthx. Honestly; there's nothing to do. I'm bored. I'm tired. And I've spent most of the morning trying to figure out if the Li Halan actually have to have Chinese names or not. From the looks of things, I'd say no, but I thought it might be nice.

To explain: dodgyhoodoo has been reading Fading Suns sourcebooks lately. Now, ordinarily, I'd be meeping about Exalted but you know, whatever. In any case, he asked me last night if I knew anything about Fading Suns. I said no. He said that he had explained it to me (probably, but I didn't remember) and had just wanted to ask what kind of character I would play. (At this point my brain is still meeping about Exalted, but whatever.) So he gave me a ten-minute precis and I threw together a character concept on the fly. Apparently, the concept a) fit perfectly with the scenario he had in mind and b) would mesh very well with weaselbitch's old confessor character. So whaddya know? I did good.

So anyway, after a brief go-over of the sourcebook on the commute in and some vague refinements to the concept, I've spent most of my morning either doing piecemeal bits of work as they arrive or working on this character a bit more. Stats will have to wait but as a background creation exercise, it's kind of fun. I like her already, and that's something. Then again, I haven't actually played a RPG in over six months, so I suppose it's not surprising that I'd get enthusiastic about the opportunity to be a PC again, even if it's not Exalted. So all manner of 'yay'.

[Edit: after a more thorough read at lunch, I know exactly what I want to do with the character, which makes the naming thing somewhat of a non-issue as I know how that branch of the family names themselves. Just hope it's acceptable.]

And the weekend. Must beat my fucking column out of dodgyhoodoo in between his Resident Evil sessions. Must also hope that weaselbitch finishes hers. Can't beat it out of her; she doesn't share a flat with me. Beyond that, must do some more work on Bloodlines over the weekend, possibly have a look at old writing projects that have gone by the wayside since the start of December and generally get more sleep. Gyah.
