This afternoon was way fun. First thing was a wander in the general direction of Piccadilly Circus, just for kicks. Renewed my travelcard, scoffed a late lunch, then wandered. Then texted [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo and asked if he wanted to meet up for a quick drink when he got out of work -- I was going to be in Finchley anyway to pick up Forsaken from Leisure Games and thought it would be nice to see him. Turned out he was going to be meeting [livejournal.com profile] weaselbitch for a drink anyway and then do dinner and I was welcome to come along.

Oddly, [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo and I ended up on opposite ends of the same Tube train and met up on the platform at Finchley Central, and he got dinner ingredients while I went to pick up my sourcebook. [livejournal.com profile] angusabranson wasn't about, which was a pity, but I did get Forsaken and another WoD sourcebook: Midnight Circus. This is going to be another fun one to throw at my Mage lot. Whee! As for Forsaken, it looks a right laugh and I look forward to running it in weekday evening capacity at some point. Also, some art by [livejournal.com profile] daver2323; always good.

Unfortunately, [livejournal.com profile] weaselbitch couldn't join us for drinks beforehand (the people she works for are wankers who call meetings at ten minutes before standard close of play). However, [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo and I did get to talking about a potential film project. I swear, between this man's general "always meant to do this" ideas and my muse's ability to grab an idea and ride it until it's completed or dead, there is going to be too much creative shit. So all told, a profitable little talk.

Then dinner at Sourcebook Central. (I need to find a new name for [livejournal.com profile] weaselbitch's flat...) We had a good time, nice long chat, that kind of thing. I heard the real dirt behind the recent LotR sessions -- much more evocative than "[livejournal.com profile] cholten99 and Claire did all the sensible stuff and then sat around being bored while everyone else was being silly". This is also how [livejournal.com profile] weaselbitch and [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo got the first looks at Forsaken (before I did! Wrong! Muh!) and I read through Midnight Circus and got my evil laugh on.

[livejournal.com profile] cholten99 says that he cannot fix the Frankenbox. He wants to take it 'round to Mark's where it might get fixed by Tuesday, but I've convinced him to have a chat with [livejournal.com profile] dodgyhoodoo about it first, so maybe it could get fixed quicker. I have my Sims 2 expansion pack coming and I'd like to play it before I move, please -- [livejournal.com profile] weaselbitch indicates that it's great fun. I hope this comes off okay -- Lenore's not a bad machine for the basics but I want my music, writing and Sims back. I also want to resurrect Lenore as more than "not a bad machine for the basics" with Frankenbox's old mobo. *sigh*

Oh, and there was a job offer. Problem being, it's NHS and contract of indeterminate length, which means until I give in and take the job permanently. This is how the NHS gets new staff; suckers temps in with the promise of benefits etc and then foists the Agenda for Change on them. Igh. I'm trying to negotiate a one-month contract because I'll admit I want a job, but I don't really want to take a NHS job. I told them I didn't want to take a NHS job. They also told me they don't often get NHS jobs. Apparently, things have changed and they got an influx of NHS positions. So they threw one of them at me. Bollocks.

Still, overall good, I guess. See icon for mood.

Someone please, please explain to me why anyone wants to buy this crap. When I think about the Force, water pressure isn't usually what I have in mind.

Amazon informs me that I'll have my Sims 2 expansion pack tomorrow, Saturday at the latest. I have project stuff I want to work on. I'm trying not to whinge about not having the Frankenbox as that way lies arguments, but I want my box back!

*sigh*
