Cellular Bells

cholten99 has no use for a separate alarm clock, but my excuse is that I haven't been bothered to buy a new bunch of AA batteries since I popped the one in my travel alarm on the basis that I didn't want something ticking in my luggage. Cellphone alarms are annoying. You don't only get that "bee-bee-bee-bee-bee-bee-bee-bee-bee-beep ... bee-bee-bee-bee-bee-bee-bee-bee-bee-beep..."; you also get this "vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ... vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" noise as it vibrates across the bedside table. It's like being woken up by your vibrator, if you are that way inclined. (Then again, in this age of washable phone covers ... ooh, look, time for my early afternoon self-squick-out. It's so great to be me.)
Actually, having a conversation in which I suddenly realise that I can't really wax UberKnowledgeable about anything. I know my way around a marine zoology text, I'm vague on my chemistry, I've read a fair bit, I know three languages well enough to get by in places where they're spoken and a few words in a couple of others, I know my way around a theatre set... I just couldn't sit down and talk about it for hours unless you joined in.
I think the problem is I do more than I can talk about. I write. I PhotoShop. I draw. I cook. I design web pages and do all the coding myself. I could probably remember how to run an editing board if you gave me a minute. But I couldn't tell you how I actually do any of it; I can just tell you what I did and why I did it. I guess it's the price of not being educated in the classical sense.
...Waitaminit. The price of not being classically educated is the inability to bullshit about various topics while still being able to produce what people consider to be the results of 'classical' education. Why am I complaining?

In other news, I still can't get my domain to work. Oh well, at least I do have the site up, though I understand it needs a few tweaks. And now it's very late and I've cooked and everything, so now's about the time I shower, come back to see the commentary about the write-up, and then go to bed. More work in the morning.
