Virtual Adept

To keep myself occupied and far away from anything resembling human contact until I pull myself together (or until the next RPG session, whichever comes first -- it's easier to hold myself together when I'm being someone else entirely), I've devised a new project. Following in the footsteps of the esteemed Andy P and ... well, everyone who runs an even marginally cool RPG and has the technical skills of a pin-toed sloth, I'm going to start a website for the Mage game.

So far I've been working on the graphics design -- I managed to find a few useful fonts and some pictures I feel adequately represent at least some of the NPCs. From there, it's going to be back to the HTML basics for me; bar the odd tag for LJ and a piece of fanfiction or two, I haven't coded website in ages. And as you can well imagine, I'd really rather not leave it to software, particularly not Word or Publisher. Gag.

This means that I spent most of last night trawling feel-good movies on the IMDB. There's nowhere else you can find a decent starting point for a picture of an eight-year-old girl. I'm really afraid of what I'd find if I entered "eight-year-olds" into Google, you see. The rest of them were relatively easy, but I'm not entirely satisfied with the Hoshikuro representation -- anyone know of any cute skinny Japanese guys? (Actually, I'm kind of afraid of what I'd find if I entered that into Google too...)

Wonder how easy the rest of the gang are going to find it, getting pictures of their characters. Kuo-Li, played by nadriel, we've already got. Same goes for Lucius -- Toos wasn't exactly imaginative with the man's appearance and just brought a picture of Jason Isaacs in the Elder Malfoy role to our first session. The others I'm not so sure about, mostly because I don't think anybody looks like Skank or E. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with.

So apart from that, getting some more solid character stats together for Brenna for Andy P and the rigging of a few more NPCs for Sunday, I don't think I have a lot to do this weekend. Oh. Yeah. Clearing out that little bookshelf and the bedside table in cholten99's room. What fun.

The Sharper Image

Warning: This entry, under this cut, is going to be huge. And it's really not going to interest anyone but a) those who actually play in my Mage sessions or b) are hopelessly devoted to my attempts at character creation.

See, while my HTML skills are rusty and limited, my prowess with Photoshop is ... well, okay, it is rivaled and paralleled and all that. But I'm pretty damn good. So I just whomped together a .jpeg of what I want the page for one of my NPCs to look like.

And yes, I know I'm sad. But I spent a profitable couple of hours not obsessing, so what more do you want from me?
