Holiday from Reason

Currently watching "Spider-Man" on DVD. I've sort of become the world's worst movie critic, and I'm sure it annoys the living piss out of cholten99. But he's the boyfriend and he should know as early as possible what he signed up for -- harsh critique, spelling checks as natural as breathing and constant threats of physical violence until he gets fed up and dumps me for someone a little less ... me. ^_^

To those of you who actually give a crap, I let up on the NoMo today. I did this in favour of ficwork I've been neglecting for months on end. It's not going too badly and might actually get finished at some point. Probably after the NoMo gets done, but you never know; I need a break from Buffy on Crack sometime. Amazing to need a holiday from one's holiday, even if it is a working one.

Hope my mother got my e-mail; she admits to not checking it very often. But at least it means that if she continues to worry it's not my fault. Beh; parents.

I thought parental bullshit stopped when you hit 25...

My mother actually answered an e-mail promptly. Which means she checked her e-mail fairly regularly. I don't believe I have to prompt a "missing children" state of mind to make the woman check her e-mail. And since she's on holiday next week, she'll be reachable solely by her mobile phone, which she usually switches off when she goes out (no, it doesn't make sense to me either).

There are pros to this.

1) The likelihood of my buggering off and staying here for long periods of time is proportional to the likelihood of the "If I'm going to be out of the house often, wouldn't that pay-as-you-go mobile phone I asked you for this Christmas really come in handy?" argument working.

2) The events of this week are reinforcing the benefits of technology to my poor out-of-the-loop mother. And if the worry and stress of the learning process give her grey hairs ... well, she dyes it anyway.
