She Was A Post-Teen Zombie
Apr. 30th, 2003 01:38 pmInteresting piece of news came in today. Apparently, we've gone over our quota of allowable hired temps. We've had so many temps in the last six months that we're just not allowed to hire any more. Which is a pity, seeing as Jackie's leaving for greener pastures day after tomorrow. On the other hand, this is good news for me because it prompted Cheryl to speak to the man who makes such decisions and has got me strongly considered for the permanent position. Which is good -- the pay'll likely not be any better but I'll be paid monthly (that'll make budgeting a little easier) and I'll have sick pay and paid holidays and all that good stuff. Less freedom; more benefits.
Work's still hectic as hell. We had guys coming in and fucking with the printers some more because they were bollocksing up all over again. Like we need this right now. Queries have been coming in fast and furious but at least the number of films being brought in has diminished. We might actually get a chance to catch up in the not-too-distant (by which I mean, in my lifetime).
Insomnia isn't exactly fun but it does have its advantages. I couldn't sleep last night and so wound up staying up to watch the Canuks/Wild game on C5. I'm hoping that the Canuks spank the Wild mercilessly and send them whimpering back to Minnesota, mostly because I want to see a Canadian team make it to the finals for a change. Hey, if the Carolina Hurricanes could do it last year, why not the Canuks? (No, I don't expect them to win because I have a sneaking feeling that this is the Devils' year, but you never know.) Anyway, the staying up was kind of worth it but as I'm running on two hours' sleep and the kind of caffeine dosage I took on a regular basis two years ago, I hope like hell I'm capable of sleeping tonight. Otherwise I'm going to be something out of "Night of the Living Dead".
