Busy busy

Finally figured out what was freezing Sims 2 at character load. Turns out some of the nifty new careers I downloaded really aren't up to much. When I get a functioning version of SimPE (0.42 is buggy as hell but apparently 0.44, which should be out soon, will cover career options a whole lot better), I'll make my own damn Cryptozoologist.

So now I'm sorting out the household stuff -- job apps, laundry, washing up, taking out the rubbish, that sort of thing. Must have lunch at some point. Must also do some Affils work -- it's already August, and it's not long before Dragonmeet. Agh.

Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered

I was walking through North Finchley and happened to notice that they've made a movie version of Bewitched. Now, initially there was the pre-emptive lash-out of "OH, FOR FUCK'S SAKE, WHAT'S NEXT?!?" but then, out of a sense of morbid curiosity, I looked it up. And actually, the premise isn't bad. Apparently in the film version, they're remaking the original TV series and the failing actor they've got playing Darrin desperately wants to cast an unknown. The 'unknown', of course, is a witch.

Yes, I'm still going to bitch about the auto-cannibalism of the media. However, it seems that they're not irredeemable -- just very, very unimaginative. Please, please can someone do something original? Make magic look like the work it is, at the very least, instead of just having the right words or potions or whateverthefuck and suddenly the world goes your way. That's just intensely frustrating.
