Serendipity
Met my mother for dinner tonight. Since I figured I wasn't going to see her on Mother's Day, and seeing as I've skipped the last couple of Mother's Days in general, I thought I'd get her something. So I wandered the King's Road before I met her up to see if I could find something appropriate. Wound up in the diddy little Virgin store in a out-of-the-way shopping arcade and found "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" for a fiver. The price was right, the film kicks arse and I figured Mum'd like it, I thought "My serendipity must be on" and picked it up. (Turned out I was right about the serendipity being on, as it turned out that Mum had really wanted to see it and had considered renting it just the other day, dithering for ages with Stepdad before choosing "Children of Men" instead.)
But even though my quest was completed, I had this urge to keep poking around the shop. When I feel that my serendipity is switched on, it's usually a good idea to give in to those urges, so I did. I wound up in the Soundtrack section pretty much by accident, looked up ... and found soundtrack for the most recent two Doctor Who seasons. I've been talking about wanting this OST for ages, incidentally, and they were only charging a tenner. Since I felt I was owed a treat after the months of utter suck, I bought that for myself. So yeah - my serendipity was seriously switched on this evening.
Dinner was nice, though I couldn't finish all of it because my stomach's acting up. Unfortunately, finding Eternal Sunshine at such a good price and the Who OST I've wanted for over a year must have used up my luck, as when I got home, I discovered that my FFXI update download timed out while I was at work and now, after an hour and a half or so's load time, it's going to be just over another hour and a half before the whole thing is loaded. Suckus maximus, but I suppose these things happen.
