Health Update

thessalianSo I went to the doctor and it's nothing too awful. Gravitational oedema -- collection of fluid, thankfully not anything that carries a risk of poisoning me or getting me infected, at the lowest point of the body. This will have something to do with how hot it's been (I don't sweat much in heat and I never thought I'd consider that a bad thing), time of the month (because, not to put too fine a point on it, the stresses I've had over the past few months have fucked with my hormones, and thus my cycle, most egregiously), a new job that involves me being on my feet much of the day and, like as not, those awful shoes that I am never, ever wearing again as long as I live. In any case, I'm on some very short-term meds and I have today off just to keep my feet up for a bit. It's better just one day than several weeks, in my view, so I'm not too worried about what's going to happen as regards the job. I don't think a day's sick leave will count too much against me at this point.

nadriel's sick and l0stmarbles can't make it. Eh, no matter. Means I don't have to panic about being home in time and means that I can work on that bit I promised dodgyhoodoo for the Affils site sooner rather than later. Actually, I can probably work on that now -- Yoriko might not be as snazzy as Thig, and doesn't even have wireless connectability, but it can at least run Word and both Yoriko and Frankenbox have disc drives. This is a good thing, no matter how superfluous a lot of people think floppy drives are these days. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford something decent on the laptop scales, but for now I'll make do. Then again, I also have to reconnect the DVD drive on Frankenbox at some stage in the not-too-distant, and maybe transfer it into a new case.
Argh. The geekiness has me. I'm going to go back to elevating my feet.
