Between the ages of 12 and 16, I lived in a dinky little town in Bergen County, New Jersey. My best friend (ironically, born in England) and I called it "Bumblefuck". I left and figured I'd never see that dinky little town or its dinky little high school (in which I was systematically tortured for four years) ever again.
Guess who just got invited to the Bumblefuck High School Class of 1995 reunion?
There are several reasons I'm actually considering going. Firstly, my best friend in high school might be going, and I haven't seen or heard from her in years -- not to mention Bumblefuck's proximity to NYC, so I can visit
leopard_lady while I'm on the right continent. Secondly, I'm dreadfully curious as to how things turned out for some of the people I hated so damn much in school. After all, if the woman organising the event, a girl I really didn't much like in school, wound up getting married to the guy who mercilessly bullied me until I tackled him during an American football game in PE and rammed his head into the turf, what the hell else happened with that lot? Desperately, desperately curious. Third, it would be interesting to track down the woman who, after having me in her typing class for a year and seeing me get consistent Cs and Ds, told me, "You will never be a secretary". It is to laugh, no?
Last but not least, maybe I could actually pull off some of the things I wrote about in a certain piece of fan fiction. And if not, there's always firebombing.
Oh, incidentally, those computer bits finally turned up. Huzzah!
