Aug. 1st, 2004 01:06 amPresuming the router doesn't go flooey again right as I'm submitting my stupid journal update...
My computer's up and running again, but this is primarily thanks to
cholten99 and his ability to hook the CD and DVD drives back into their appropriate slots. This is a skill I apparently lack, but I couldn't fit the stupid stick of memory into the slot with all those ribbon-wires in the way. My computer now has 384MB RAM; it's a fair bit faster now, and Photoshop doesn't randomly crash for no apparent reason, which is a nice thing. This has not solved my Sims problem, but
nightskywarlock did some research and found out why this is not working. Essentially, in order to expand my Sims experience, I have to move away from the evil that is software piracy. Aw; I liked being a rebel.
The Dune dilemma has been resolved -- unfortunately, to no one's real satisfaction. Turns out Andy P's boss has turned around and said he's taking next week off, which means that Andy P doesn't get his free Tuesday or the Saturday he suggested. This means that all the debates about characters and players is moot because the GM can't do it. I feel a bit sorry for Andy P at the minute; first it was the off-again-on-again from the players (I swear, it was like the hokey-pokey: "You put your Mentat in, you take your Mentat out, you put your Mentat in and he calculates exactly how many of your bones that Bene Gesserit is going to break and in what order...") and now this. Hope he gets some game time in before GenCon...
Still with the sucky cold. I hope I feel better before game starts tomorrow. Apparently I'm pretty much necessary -- we're offroading past the Shadowlands and not only am I the group's only survival expert (and the only one who hasn't spent the vast majority of her time in cities or caravans), but I'm the one who has the inherent ability to *foom* the undead. Also, it's my first real attempt at the leadership role; up until now, I've just been barbarian but since the Unconquered Sun verbally bitch-slapped me while I was dead last session, that cuts no ice. So I kind of have to be there. It'll be good fun anyway, and fun in a different kind of way than Monday's 7th Sea session, where I will inevitably meet up with a forgotten part of my foggy past. That'll be fun out of character, but in character probably not so much because I expect that Alison will meet her past, not recognise it and have a hard time believing it when the past in question a) starts swearing at her, b) tries to clap her in irons and/or c) shoots at her.
